THE STREETS TAUGHT ME TO FIGHT.
KARATE TAUGHT ME SELF-CONTROL.
My name is Andrew Reynoff.
I personally teach REAL STREET FIGHTING at Reynoff Dojo – Huntington Harbour Athletic Club, drawing on experience that began long before I ever taught a class.
I grew up on the streets.
My mother worked two jobs, and my stepfather wasn’t there for me. I had to figure out a lot on my own: who to trust, when to stand up for myself, and how to face fear without an adult there to protect me.
My friends and I were a tight-knit group. There were clashes with other groups, fights over respect, and pressure to prove ourselves. We also made choices I’m not proud of today. Back then, some of those choices felt necessary.
Today, I understand what they cost.
I’ve witnessed street aggression firsthand and often been the aggressor myself.
I know both sides of a street fight: what it feels like to be targeted and the mindset of the person doing the attacking. I understand how someone tries to intimidate you through their voice, their stare, their threats, or by getting in your space. And I know how difficult it can be to respond when fear makes you freeze and you can’t think clearly.
That’s why my classes go beyond punches and blocks. We work on recognizing danger, maintaining distance, setting boundaries, and staying composed under pressure. Step by step, we work through the mental barrier that can keep you from protecting yourself.
My goal is to help you build confidence, get out of dangerous situations early, and be ready to fight back if an attack becomes unavoidable.
I’ve lived these lessons. Today, I teach them to help you stand up for yourself with greater confidence.
